Abstract

Reading comprehension student not satisfactory, why? Because it the method used is monotones and students were didn’t active, made learners got bored. Method and strategies that have been used so far have not been able to improve student reading outcomes; therefore efforts were made to improve understanding by used extensive reading as a technique. The aims to know extensive reading could improve reading comprehension achievement. This research was experiment research utilizing post-test only control design the population of this research was whole students at the second grade of MTs Yadinu Banok. The sample was second grade students as experiment class contained 20 and control class contained 20 students. The instrument was used learning extensive reading test in the form of multiple choices contained 30 questions. The homogeneity testing was used variance test and the data analysis technique used was t-test. Based on the data analysis resulted, the experiment group mean score was 68, 75 and control class was 61, 5. The result of the research showed that extensive reading positive effect on the students learning achievement. The hypothesis tested t-count was 2, 7498 meanwhile t-table was 2,000 (2, 7498>2,000. Thus it could be concluded that there effect of extensive reading on students achieve at the VIII grade MTs Yadinu Banok in the school year 20180/2019.
